Overall Impression (8/10)

Way cool. This is a funky little mod -- so it lives up to its title. Couldn't help myself moving around a little in the chair while it was playing. (Actually, I had meant to comment or review this one before the site changes, and I'm really happy I got back to doing it and listened to the module again.) I loved the organ samples.

Technique, Arrangement, Composition (8/10)

The arrangement is basic in some respects, given the shortness of the piece. That said, the composer obviously knows his theory and works in some pretty jazzy chords and changes. Really very nice use of effects on the solo parts in the middle.

Development (8/10)

A lot of the action, appropriately enough, is carried by the bass, with organ chord stabs in the background. In the middle of the piece comes the solo, which develops really well and helps carry the tune. I enjoyed the funky vibrato and pitch slides.

Creativity (9/10)

One of the really nice things about this module is the way the composer creates a very real funk feel without being overly concerned about making the instruments sound real. There is really a lot done with basic samples. It's pretty rare that you hear something that sounds as much like an improvised solo with as little concern about imitating an actual instrument -- I mean this in a good way. The composer is letting the tracker and computer do what they do best.

Enjoyment (8/10)

Actually, it's hard to stop listening to. As a fan of both Jimmy Smith and James Brown, this one really hit a soft spot for me. It really has that retro instrumental vibe going for it.

Additional Comment

This one probably won't get more than an 8 from me only because it doesn't really hold a lot of the way in musical significance. However, it is a perfectly executed fun little module and worth hanging on to.
