2023 EDITION _. o_---^v-_--------/ \ ^ D E S E R T D R E A M orig. by Laxity/Merge cover by JWPH of KEFRENS 1993 2023 I think this might be a due, yet turbulent time to reimagine the theme that made so many, in and out of the ever-expanding world of the demo- scene since it was premiered along with the once-legendary Amiga demo back at TG decades ago. But for this rendition to feel kind of modern, while at the same time maintain the connection to the ages old, most of the samples were created anew: the bass, oct. brass, and lead flute are from Full Bucket's excellent VST emulation of the legendary Korg Trident (a tri-timbral polysynth from 1980); the chorus-y voices are from my ModularSynth experiments in Caustic 3 with some editing, while the strings came from GSE's VST emulation of the equally-famed Logan String Melody II (yes, that hauntingly-cool vintage string synth from around 1974 or something); lastly, the drums are from that one meme video regarding an airport rat warning sign and the FloodSnare sample pack by u/r235*. * might add some more drum and equivalent samples in this trackertune very soon... Update 0.54 something: settled for some wavefolding and vintage string machine basses instead Update 0.55: replaced the cymbal and bass drums with much more dynamic ones, mainly from Freesound Update 0.60: new patterns, thus leading to a new revised ending, while removing one in the process Update 0.70: changed some samples, especially the orchestral cymbal one, since I want lesser low harmonics now
