Tracking / Re: Where to find plugins for BeRo?
« on: April 18, 2015, 22:43:23 »

The BTP(i) stuff is just a relict from the early days of the BeRoTracker development, where I've made the engine plugin-capable before I've added the VST(i) support itself. All my own BTP(i) plugins are already integrated into the BeRoTracker Engine itself a long time ago. And third-party BTP(i) plugins I've never seen.

But your VST-effects-on-samples-apply-idea is a good idea, I believe, I will implement it into BeRoTracker  in one of the next coming BeRoTracker version releases.

So i've defined it now as Android >=2.1 only, to be a bit safer, at least I hope it so. ;D

The market has only android version and android system feature filter, but no CPU instruction set support filter :(

The only solution would be limit it to Android 2.1 and up and OpenGL ES 2.00 support (if even BeRoXM doesn't use OpenGL, but OpenGL ES 2.0 capable devices has most always also VFP instruction set support), but some few Android 1.6 (for example Sony X10, Dell MiniĀ“5) devices have also VFP instruction set support. Are you think, that this would a acceptable way?

Hello@all

i've submitted the android version of BeRoXM into the android market as adbased freeware (of course, with a adfree unlocker key) today, see http://www.androidpit.com/en/android/market/apps/app/com.bero.multimedia.beroxm/BeRoXM  or directly on a android smartphone/superphone market://search?q=pname:com.bero.multimedia.beroxm but the CPU should be a fast once, optimal are >=1 GHz Devices like the Google Nexus One, HTC Desire, Samsung Galaxy S, and so on, at least i've tested it on my Google Nexus One and my Samsung Galaxy S and in some days i will test it on my old  Motorola Milestone(/Droid) with slower CPU. And on T-Mobile G1 it will not run, because the ARM CPU of the G1 has no VFP floating point instruction support.

It plays MOD, WOW and XM (together with BeRoTracker and (Open)ModPlug Extensions, for example Filter effects with MIDI macro template backend, Stereo Samples, ADPCM-compressed Samples, and so on).

And the buffersize is hardcoded in the moment, and "can be" suboptimal for some devices. But i will make a setting for that in the future.

And who want, that I should porting my feature-overkill BeRoTracker Playerengine (MOD/STM/S3M/XM/IT/BRT/IMF/MTM/MT2/WOW/669/DMF/MIDI/etc.) to Android, must hope, pray or donate ;D Because that would will be a bigger laborious task, because the BRT Engine in the current state uses only floating point for the whole DSP mixing stuff, which I would must change it then to integer fixedpoint mixing or optimzing for the ARM NEON instruction set for a optimal perfomance on embedded ARM CPUs. But until this will occuring and if if that happens at all, BeRoXM is anyway a compromise, I think.

So have fun with BeRoXM ;)

PS. For those who has ideas, I'm open for suggestions, feature requests,  better GUI design ideas, etc.

This is the point: The midi import from BeRoTracker is very accurate

Hehe ok

My MIDI importer algorithm is simply a complete MIDI player (with handling of all controllers incl. Hold Pedal, Portamento Pedal, Sostenuto Pedal, Soft Pedal, Legato Pedal, Hold2 Pedal, Portamento Time, etc.), but only instead of output to a MIDI out device, the events will mapped and converted into pattern rows, where the midi time unit will convert as exactly as possible into the pattern row unit with use of the correct "original" BPM tempo from the MIDI (where BPM = 60000000/MidiTempo). Even dynamic tempo changes are handled.

With the MIDI import of BeRoTracker can adjust the user the RPB (Rows Per Beat) and further import options freely, where 8 RPB is the most optimal value (1RPB=Speed 24, 2RPB=Speed 12, 4RPB=Speed 6, 8RPB=Speed 3, and so on).

Even the MIDI import of Renoise shows still some weaknesses opposite BeRoTracker, because at me Renoise 1.5.2 seems to always import MIDIs with 125 BPM. And MadTracker 2.6.1 always with 120 BPM. And Modplug's BPM/Speed Detection is a big disaster, there is often the BPM and the midi time unit to pattern row division conversation incorrect and often a big disaster. But with BeRoTracker this is however ensured. Try simply yourself, if you doesn't believe me.

Short: If you need an good, very near perfect (not completely perfectly), midi importer, then use BeRoTracker or the MID2XM from Un4Seen, which is an old Win3.11 16-bit program and which needs external instrument patches (BRT uses simply the instruments+samples of the gm.dls soundbank from DirectX, and yes, BRT can automatically import even track own sound banks from RIFF MIDI files (*.RMI), which can contain soundbanks).

And BRT Classic has now a MIDI importer dialog since two days, so please download the lastest BRT Classic version (no, I've posted no BRT site news for this), if you do not want use BRT Impulse to convert MIDIs to XM/IT/BRT.

Here a good example

http://www.berotracker.de/midiimport/simspons/

BRT 4rpb.it - Imported MIDI in BRT with 4 rows per beat with use of samples and correct imported timing
BRT 8rpb.it - Imported MIDI in BRT with 8 rows per beat with use of samples and correct imported timing
BRT MIDIReexport.mid - Midi Out 8RPB.brt exported to MIDI
Midi Out 4RPB.brt - Imported MIDI in BRT with 4 rows per beat with use of MIDI out and correct imported timing
Midi Out 8RPB.brt - Imported MIDI in BRT with 8 rows per beat with use of MIDI out and correct imported timing
Modplug.it - Imported MIDI in MPT with use of samples and incorrect imported timing
Original.mid - The original MIDI file

No, this was an normal reply. He was on the search for a tracker, which has a good MIDI Importer. And my tracker has so a good MIDI Importer. Therefore I've recommended him my tracker, because he was the search for so a tracker. What is please wrong to it? Think about it.

Or try BeRoTracker Impulse. BRT Impulse has an very good (not absoluty perfect) MIDI importer.
