The Lobby / Re: What sequencing (or DAW) software do you use?
« on: August 31, 2009, 16:15:00 »
I worked with Reason some years ago, wich is really intuitive. I recently gave a try whith Cubase but I wasn't in my element. When I bought my MIDI keyboard, Ableton Live was offered so I tried it. In fact I decided to go back to sequencers when I saw everybody was talkign about "VSTI". Ableton is pretty cool because you can use it like a real sequencer but also for... kinda "live mixing" with several loops programmed and you launch them when you want. But finally I discovered Renoise which has the advantages of modern sequencers but with a tracker interface hehe. Goodbye sequencers ! Maybe I'll use Ableton and Reason again when I decide to practice guitar again :) But what is sure is that using a sequencer with horizontal scrolling change your "point of view", your way of composing so it can be useful to try new things and experiment when you don't have anymore idea.

If you prefer sampels, there is also a sample pack made from LSDJ made by a guy called Altemark, I'll find it with Google.

Project / Coder's Corner / Easiest way to play xm in a music disk ?
« on: August 31, 2009, 15:53:30 »

I was wondering about the way to use and play xm in a small windows music disk. In fact I've had this idea in mind for years now but I never tried. I'm totally novice in programming, all the more when it's for PC and windows. Is there an easy language so that I can include just some text, a graphic background, and a pack of music without spending too much time on it ?

Thx in advance for your answers ;)

Not really in demoparties (even if I would like to), but I actually go on Pouet from time to time. I recently released a small music disk there but that's all. Your memory is good ;)

"It would be a great boost to the community if you dropped by and say hello :-) As it is, you don't appear to have ever posted on our forums even though you hold an account"

That's the e-mail I received :) OK, so I'm from France, not really new here but I never come on the forum. I registered in 2001 I guess... I started with FT2 some years ago, then tried chiptunes, always with FT2. Now I like to use old hardware (CPC, ST, Game Boy, C64 soon...) but I'm planning to use my Amiga soon for some mods. Bye and keep up the good job, this archive is THE archive ;)
