MilkyTracker Community / Re: It's Just not working out for me :(
« on: November 16, 2009, 23:25:47 »
Did you create the instruments yourself or did you download them?  How did you create your instruments? Did you draw them in Milkytracker or convert them from something else?
How many samples long are your instrument, and is that in decimal or hex?
When you are loading samples from outside of Milkytracker from say a 44.1 khz source, they should not be tuned to middle C. But when drawing a sample, the length should be an exponent of 2, like 64, 128 or 256 long, and then tune to Middle C. Milkytracker treats samples as 8363Hz which means makes c3 63.93 samples long. A detailed discussion of this can be found here: http://modarchive.org/forums/index.php?topic=2401.0

You might find it easier to pull apart other mods/xm files and play with them while you're learning to track.
Also, milkytracker.org should is up.

Someone edited the Wikipedia page to list that Maemo was supported.  I don't know anything about it. I suppose it would probably run the debian version of milkytracker.

Tr4ck3uR: I have started such a document. It's half way done and looking for contributors. You can find it here: http://modarchive.org/forums/index.php?topic=1265.10

I think you will find it helpful. Perhaps you can help flesh it out?

javamannen2 and 8ch: Since you both expressed interest, I've uploaded a Milkytracker skeleton document here: http://modarchive.org/forums/index.php?topic=1265.10

Perhaps you'd like to download it, fill in some of the incomplete sections (in red) and upload those changes?

Many sections are already filled out. I think I copied the explanation of instr-backtrace from this thread. ;)

Hey Luke, I've uploaded the skeleton of a document that if crowdsourced could potentially become the part of the guide you're looking for.  Why not download it and fill in some of the sections in red?
You can find it here: http://modarchive.org/forums/index.php?topic=1265.10

DBZ, how did you get the 0.90.85 release?  I've been checking the site for months because Pailes found and fixed some bugs in the 0.90.80 release for the Pocket PC and although I can wait, if there's a way to get that now I'd love to have it.

Here is part 2.

I am uploading my "skeleton document". It's not quite a skeleton because I couldn't resist filling half of it out. The problem that caused is that I delayed the release of it 10 months because I couldn't resist the urge to keep filling more in. I now have a better sense of why unpaid development is a slower process.  ;)

I worry that this will be redundant with a document that's already been started. If so, hopefully they can be merged.

I'm will continue to work on the document. Hopefully crowdsourcing this work will help finish it off much faster than I am able to!

When it's finished I am excited to convert it into other formats such as html, pdf, lit, etc.
Note: The file is two zips. Unzipping will create two rars. Unrar will create the word document. Here is part 1.

MilkyTracker Feature Requests / Re: wave edito filter please

I'm wondering if implementing a filter in the sample editor would also necessitate the addition of an simple envelope to control that filters behavior across the sample?
