Last night created 36 instruments from sampling the OUTPUT of U-He Diva to make HighLife Instruments for MED SoundStudio...

This is probably the BEST example of why one would want to 'bounce a VSTi' as Diva sounds great but USES A TON OF CPU TO DO SO!!...

There be a trade-off though...as I wanted the instruments to be less than 10 MB each but have at least 3 samples per octave,ETC,ETC....

So have at it...These ONLY work in the HighLife engine in MED SoundStudio not in the VSTi versions of HighLife which use FXP as a instrument cluster...

Well...Saga Musix is certainly correct hands down...

But a few things from my perspective too...Yes, like Saga says music must be learned to some degree...I played bass for 9 years when young and was in numerous bands so trained my ear & also learned theory but started out jamming to records (yes, I am OLD...SO OLD!!) but this is great way to train the ear then when you listen to music you can decompile the progressions in your mind thus recompile at the QWERTY or MIDI controller....

Some will disagree with this but when I hear what is being made it is quite clear something is lacking...High BPMs, constant wall of sound with no breaks, lack of dynamics, just syncopation & filter sweeps...More akin to soundFX rather than music...

On Trackers though hard to say as there are so many & the popular ones I tend to not like...BUTT-

Recent thread I started for MED Soundstudio 2.1 is PRETTY EASY!...

The most recent version of Psycle has a LUA Piano Roll...That helps...

Try MODplug...I didn't like it...

As far as absolute simplicity of Trackers Sequential Vibes & H8Tracker are the bomb...I plan on doing a video tutorial on H8Tracker soon...

I really like SkaleTracker it is an elegant cadillac some plugs work in it just fine but I like its native AKAI format support as well as soundfonts...Great mixer & very visually appealing...

The late Arguru's Aodix 4.2 is very nice VST ONLY & ASIO ONLY very nice 'tickless' environment has INGENIOUS vertical piano roll built right into the tracker view & you can shove notes anywhere even on top of one another...Just has a VST bug you hafta test VSTs by saving a song & reopening if it crash you cannot use that plug...I did an intro with it here-

https://alonetone.com/TalkOrBell/tracks/genetically-modified-mood---intro-only

Many are using SunVox & capable if you wish more 'electronic' sound rather than sampled 'real' instruments (guitar-bass-etc)...It does read XI instruments but they sound terrible in it...No VST support & I tried years ago to even just get dev to read sf2 format but no way...You can load WAVs...I did a tune with it-

https://alonetone.com/TalkOrBell/tracks/osmosis-highway

So the upshot is TRY EVERYTHING!!! What works for others probably won't 'hit the spot' for you...

CRUD!...Forgot something...

MED has pretty good CHM helps but I did not like such small fonts with clashing backgrounds so I converted all important CHMs to HTML so you can open in your browser of choice that have ZOOMING feature (I use Opera 12 for this)

Didn't sleep well last night so I 'FROZE' a buncha VSTi to make HighLife Instruments for MED SoundStudio...

##NOTE##...These are not compatible with some OTHER versions of HighLife which use FXP format for packed instrument...

If you follow included images there can be no screw-ups to get these functioning-

UnRARed is 222 MB Instruments...Crappy ones were deleted...

Tracking / MED SoundStudio 2.1 Win32 Free for ALL>>>
« on: December 01, 2021, 03:57:26 »
Just happened to search today 'MED SoundStudio' there's an open facebook group & down just a little the owner of MED SoundStudio has been giving it out for free for a time now to keep it from dying out since it is no longer being sold nor being improved...

I installed & the included serial worked fine, what a boon...

I really like SoundStudio it is simple, effective, great workflow, uses VSTi & VST (fast scanning too), has built-in HighLife Engine so you can sample a VSTi & freeze it to instrument samples, You can also load SFZ & AKAI into HighLife as well, You can render your songs down to executables...

Right-Clicking on a selection in the pattern block you get an effects menu listing & any you choose have parameters you set right there...It does all the work for you & you don't hafta fart with HEX or nuthin'...

SoundStudio is not perfect though...VSTi & VST automation is lacking actually any type is lacking your effects commands for your sample instruments are your best bet in it and there is no mixer to speak of...

Looks interesting but forget online for many...

The web address don't even open up for me so there must be some 'web' requirement as well that has not been mentioned...

Just seen requires a fast computer...such as.......

Amazing that a visually low CPU tracker now requires fast modern-day computer...

Tracking / Pre-Tested VSTi Instruments for SkaleTracker (Freewares)>>>
« on: November 21, 2021, 03:48:55 »
hey...HEY!!!

Have an archive of Pre-Tested VSTi Instruments tested to work in SkaleTracker 0.81 without crashing...

These are all freewares & I made sure to check to make sure no commercial ventures are in there as I have a few for sure...

Testing VSTi in Skale is a SUPER PAIN WAY UP...ALL THE WAY UP!! As since Skale re-rezes the plug GUIs (No problem with GUI-less) many plugs DO NOT LIKE that...

Crashes are usually the negative upshot with Skale crashing without having Re-Rezed the monitor & as such taskbar is gone & much other requiring a restart of machine then bringing it back into proper screen Rez after booting up...

Though my set-up is windows XP SP3 32bit and I run FULLSCREEN ONLY with SkaleTracker 0.81 yours should not be any different reacting (maybe, hopefully)..

If you get a 'sticky' plug that won't release with the ESC key then bring up task manager (CTRL-ALT-DELETE) or try Alt-TAB switch then go back to Skale that usually works to JOG IT...

Pretty much it just drop these wherever you've configged the VSTs to be...Note the Crystal VSTi is the older 2.4.8 as the newer versions will CRASH so don't update...EVER!!!!

Sampling / Re: HGFortune SF2s Converted to XI-
« on: November 12, 2021, 18:24:01 »
Sorry Madrayken...

Well, If you are still about I am reuploading NOW so note new links above...Thanks for your gratitude no matter what...

OK done...Re-uploaded plus added 2 xtra file hosters uploaded to so maybe links will last awhile...

Have tested various ones of these in SkaleTracker & pretty much seem OK there may be a 'bad apple' here or there...

Sampling / SoundFonts.it to XI Instruments Experiment Thread>>>
« on: November 12, 2021, 18:11:08 »
OK then...

Coming across these 2 pages from the wayback-

https://web.archive.org/web/20050310214414/http://www.soundfonts.it/?a=soundfonts&c=5#5

AND

https://web.archive.org/web/20050310220309/http://www.soundfonts.it/?a=soundfonts&c=11#11

I decided to convert the SF2s from these 2 pages only into XI Instruments...As you can SEE at the bottom of these pages the copyright info...No FRIGGIN' restriction whether personal, commercial, marine, aircraft, whatever...

And if you are ever challenged (not on these but OTHERS) the first thing you ask is "Then please show me your approved copyright filing or your filing of (it takes awhile)"...To NOT PROVIDE THIS is illegal...

ONWARD...OK these also tested in SkaleTracker 0.81 for 'purity'...No crashing, out of tune, run-ons, etc...This eliminated quite a few...

Many had instrument names DIFFERENT from the soundfont name so they were renamed to indicate the soundfont they came from...So you know WHAT came from WHERE...

So there you have it...I may do more pages later on...
